Shedd Aquarium, 2018 Special Exhibit

“Underwater Beauty,” the 2018 special exhibit at John G. Shedd Aquarium, features thousands of animals representing 100 species. The diversity of this exhibit highlights the beauty of a range of underwater habitats, including lakes, rivers and oceans. A water wall with entry signage welcomes guests into this special exhibit, which is organized into five rooms. Each room creates a mood that coincides with the animals’ characteristics featured in that room, such as color, patterns and rhythm, while patterned flooring and ceilings help further define each area and lead guests through the experience. The animals reside in 30 habitats of a variety of custom sizes and shapes, including one oval habitat that can be viewed in the round!
